FAQs

How do you make your prints?

It depends on the look I’m going for, but everything I make starts with a simple pencil sketch on paper. I’ll often scan these into my computer and refine them in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. A lot of my work has textures that I make in a range of ways. I use dry brushes, crayons, ink splats and old paper stock which I scan and manipulate depending on the effect I’m looking for.

For the actual printing, I work with a range of media, including screen printing, risograph and digital. The prints I sell online are mostly Giclée, which is fade-resistant pigment inks applied to museum-grade, acid-free cotton rag paper. Paper choice is very important to me, and the stock I use is heavyweight, with a little natural texture and a warm white colour. Every print is designed, printed and packed by me at my studio in Glasgow.

Do you take commissions?

Yes, I’m a freelance designer, and much of my work is commission based. I enjoy working with clients big and small to design branding, posters, packaging and more. I’m particularly interested in branding and packaging for small businesses specialising in food and drink. If you’d like to work together, please use the form here.

I’m not currently taking commissions that are solely illustration.

Can I collect my print from you?

Yes. I’m in the Southside of Glasgow, so if you want to collect your order from me please just drop me a message before ordering and we can arrange it.

Is there a shop where I can see/buy your work?

Thank you, yes, please see my list of stockists.

What about sustainability?

Environmental responsibility is fundamental to my daily life, and as such it impacts the choices I make in my practice. I use recycled backing card, recycled cardboard packaging, and reinforce my packaging with reused materials. I use recyclable packing tape and paper bags. If your order arrives with plastic bubble wrap, it’s because I’m reusing materials.

A2 prints come in recycled cardboard tubes, but the end caps are plastic and I’m looking for alternatives.

My printing process is very low waste, using water-based inks with no significant clean up required. The paper I use is fully recyclable, biodegradable, and plant-based and made from naturally replenishing resources. The paper and ink will last a lifetime without yellowing or fading.

Compared to many other gifts, prints are a low impact and sustainable gift that can last a lifetime. None of my designs are made in pursuit of a short-term trend.

Blemished prints that don’t meet the quality standard get turned into business cards.

I enjoy delivering stock on foot to my Glasgow retailers.

What’s with the Honey Mangoes?

Every summer, where I live in the Southside of Glasgow, honey mangoes imported from Pakistan are sold in local shops. Some pop-up shops appear solely to sell boxes of this cherished golden fruit. It’s a local phenomenon which sparks genuine excitement.

In 2020, during the first Covid lockdown, I wanted to help raise funds for a local mutual aid organisation that was helping people who were struggling to meet basic needs. Thinking about a design that involved food with a local theme, I made a poster design celebrating honey mangoes season, and sold them with all money going to the cause.

Since then, I’ve made a few variations of the original design which are now available as high quality art prints (rather than poster prints). There’s also been a limited edition version made for Parveen’s, and a ice-cream tub label for for Peacocks Ice Cream.

I’m still inspired by the mangoes and have made a range of prints based on my fantasy role as creative director for a fictional Honey Mango Marketing Board. You can see them here.

Do you use AI to make your designs?

No, never.

Can I still buy from your Etsy store?

Yes, but buying from kieronredmond.co.uk is better. Here I don’t pay fees to Etsy, and I offer free shipping for orders over £50.

If Etsy is still your preference, using this link means I will pay less in fees.

Do you do wholesale?

Yes I do. If you have a bricks and mortar shop and would like to stock my prints, I’ll be happy to hear from you. You can contact me here.

Are you on Faire?

No. I really value my direct personal relationships with my stockists, who are often small businesses themselves. Working through an overseas, venture capital owned third-party does not appeal to me.

Do you do markets?

I really enjoy meeting people at markets and art fairs, and I do a few throughout the year. I share updates on these on my Instagram.

Do you ship to USA and Canada?

Yes, I send lots of prints across the Atlantic! Taxes and import charges may be applied on entry to your country and these are the responsibility of the buyer. If you’re in the USA or Canada, you may prefer to buy from my Etsy store, where any charges are calculated and paid for upfront. I use services that are tracked and insured, and I only charge what the shipping actually costs.
